I love Christmas. I love giving presents and finding things that make people smile. We often forget to say “thank you” to the people who make our lives better on a daily basis and Christmas is a great reminder to do that. It’s one of the few times of the year that my inner cynic goes on full retreat.
To save some money this year I got my DIY Nerd on. I was repeatedly called the mad scientist during this period, but hey, the house smelled great and everything turned out awesome. I made chocolate covered raisins, candied almonds, vanilla honey bubble bath, apple lemon grass hand scrub, orange hand scrub, orange clove hand scrub, lemon grass bath salts, clove bath salts, cinnamon clove body scrub, lemon grass body scrub, and lemon grass bath fizzies. I put it all in a random collection of mason jars that were already in the house and made labels for everything.
It all turned out great and it was much more fun than doing crazy Black Friday shopping. I made enough to restock my bathroom and give to friends, family, and coworkers. I think the gift that was made often means more than the one that was bought. Overall, it was a successful experiment for this mad scientist.
